DISTINGUISHED VISITING WRITERS

Each spring, the MFA program hosts a Distinguished Visiting Writer, alternating poets and fiction writers. The Distinguished Visiting Writer teaches one course, gives a reading, and is available to consult with MFA students. In 2007, poets and editors Ben Doyle and Sandra Miller were in residence to teach the MFA Poetry Workshop. In 2008, fiction and non-fiction writer Anthony Doerr was in residence to teach the MFA Fiction Workshop.

MFA READING SERIES

The MFA program brings writers to campus who represent a wide range of aesthetic styles. In 2007-2008, the program sponsored readings by Peter Riley, C.S. Giscombe, Lee Ann Brown, Kate Greenstreet, Maxine Chernoff, Paul Hoover, Dan Beachy-Quick, Melanie Rae Thon, J. Reuben Appelman, Michael A. FitzGerald, Andrew Joron, Anthony Doerr and Kevin Kiely.
