Dr. Lisa McClain accepted an interdisciplinary Women's Studies/Social Sciences/History tenure-track position in Fall of 2001. She comes to BSU from the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her PhD in history in May 2000 and served as a lecturer in history. Her fields of specialty include religion during the Reformation era and gender and popular culture in early Modern Europe. She is the author of several articles in journals such as the Journal of Religious History and the Sixteenth Century Journal, and the recently-published book Lest We Be Damned: Practical Innovation and Lived Experience among Catholics in Protestant England 1559-1642 (London, New York: Routledge, 2004).

Lisa was elected the Director of the Gender Studies program beginning Fall 2002. Her energy and diverse background, make her an excellent choice.
