Housing

Fall 2007

Stark numbers and tragic stories indicate that Idaho is approaching a crisis in affordable housing. As housing markets tighten, Idahoans advocate tax credits and rent subsidies. Others look to the private sectors to build more affordable homes.

Submission guidelines

Idaho Issues Online invites nontechnical writing for a broad readership. We welcome original features as well as adapted excerpts from publications that seldom reach Idaho voters and policymakers.

Features run about 2,500 words (about ten double-spaced pages), excluding documentation. Idaho Issues Online prefers University of Chicago (Turabian-style) reference endnotes. For commentaries and excerpted research, a bibliography may suffice. We welcome maps, photographs and illustrations that contribute to analysis. Feature submissions should be e-mailed to editor Kathleen Craven at kcraven@boisestate.edu

Idaho Issues Online also welcomes news, bibliography, links and graphics related to forthcoming themes. Postings should be e-mailed to education editor Nancy Tacke at nancytacke@boisestate.edu

Editorial policy

Idaho Issues Online publishes original and adapted essays about vital topics of public concern. Each semester, we publish an issue around an Idaho theme chosen in advance. Guest editors from the Boise State University faculty work with the staff editors to solicit features from established experts. Peer experts anonymously evaluate features for accuracy and scholarly merit.
