About MENC:
Founded in 1907 with 64 members, today's membership has grown to nearly 90,000 including active music teachers, university faculty and researchers, college students preparing to be teachers, high school honor society members and MusicFriends. Formerly Music Educators National Conference, the association's name was changed in 1998 to MENC: The National Association for Music Education to better reflect its mission.
About Student Chapter # 709:
BSU MENC Chapter #709 is run by students with a Faculty Advisor. The group meets twice a month, with the Executive Committee meeting up to twice more a month as needed. Membership provides students of music education with opportunities for growth outside the classroom, as well as involvement in management of an organization. Meetings feature guest speakers in areas not necessarily covered in class material, and the group attends conferences sponsored by MENC.
Chapter Executive Committee:
President: Kelli Kirkman
