Prof. Wallis Bratt

Associate Professor of Music at Boise State University, teaches music theory/composition and cello. Mr. Bratt received his Bachelor of Music from the University of Idaho and his Master of Music from the University of Utah with post-Masters work at the University of Utah and the University of Oregon. His primary teachers included John Best, David Whisner, David Freed, Mary Ann Meredith, and Robert Hladky. Further studies have been with Leonard Rose, Zara Nelsova, Ron Leonard, and Nathaniel Rosen. Composition teachers included Dr. C. Griffith Bratt, William Billingsley, Dr. Leroy Roberts, Ned Rorem, Monte Tubb. Further studies have been with Naclav Neleybel, Barry Vercoe, Dr. Charles Bestor, Mark Camphouse, and Dr. Robert Lemay.

Mr. Bratt has performed as soloist, chamber musician, and principal cellist with The Boise Philharmonic, Bach Festival Orchestra of Oregon, the Idaho Bicentennial Orchestra, SummerFest Orchestra, The Boise Chamber Players, the Northwest Nazarene College Performance of the Messiah and their Spring Choral Concerts, The College of Idaho Orchestra (Albertson College), University of Idaho Symphony, and the University of Utah Symphony as well as numerous chamber orchestras throughout the Treasure Valley. As a composer his works have been performed throughout the Northwest and at Stanford University, California. A BSU faculty member since 1970, Mr. Bratt has received the outstanding teacher award three times.
