Dr. Jim Jirak
joined the music faculty at Boise State University in 1994. His teaching experience ranges from K - 12 in Jackson, Wyoming through higher education including four years at Illinois State University as Assistant Director of Choral Activities.
He directs the Boise State University Vocal Jazz Ensembles, Men's Chorus, and teaches choral conducting and choral methods. He is the festival coordinator for the annual vocal jazz festival held each February.
Jirak holds a Doctor of Arts degree in Choral Conducting with a secondary emphasis in Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, and Bachelor of Music Education degree from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins.
