Percussion at Boise State University
- Dr. John Baldwin, Percussion
- James Harrison, Adjunct Faculty, Drum Set
Students pursuing a music degree with a major in percussion follow a curriculum which includes concert and rudimental Snare Drum, all Keyboard Percussion Instruments, Timpani, Multipercussion, and Drumset. All percussion majors receive private instruction at no additional cost. Periodic informal seminars afford students the opportunity to learn more about bass drum and cymbals, world percussion, small concert percussions, implement construction and repair, maintenance, many other miscellaneous instruments and effects, and any special performance techniques that might be required for their ensemble performances. Solo and chamber music performances are available in weekly Concert Classes, as well as solo recitals and chamber music concerts. Basic pedagogical and performance techniques for all percussion instruments are taught as a regular part of the Bachelor of Music Education curriculum.
Limited scholarships and graduate assistantships are available to qualified students.
